When you submit to these 66 search engines, search results will show up in quite a few other engines. For instance, Google powers the Yahoo search engine. Search listings in Google will show up in Yahoo as well. Why would you pay Yahoo when you can get listed in their directory by submitting to Google?
Our Review
Here at BuildaSkill, we’ve used this software periodically to promote our site and always seen an increase in traffic as a result – you can partially see the effectiveness of this software as a registered member of our forums. When logged into the forums, scroll to the bottom of the main forum index page, and view the “Who’s online” data. You will almost constantly see a list of search engine “bots” crawling the site looking for updated pages and posts, including AOL, Excite, Google, MSN Live, and Yahoo (see screenshot below).
A couple of the less well known search engines will email you asking that you subscribe to their newsletters before they index your site. Generally speaking, we have found doing so to be very worthwhile. We cannot quantify any additional traffic they send us, but the newsletters are full of useful SEO information (some of which is repeated in the main BuildaSkill Blog web skills sections), and every newsletter contains interesting special offers and software news. If you ignore the subscription offer, it’s not known whether they will still index your site or not, although the implication is that they won’t.
You can use the software for as many sites, sub-sites, and even single pages as you wish to. There are no operational restrictions that we have found other than some of the search engines asking you to subscribe to their newsletters … and we have no evidence of becoming a Spam target by doing so.
We believe the software is an API type interface that connects to the software author’s search submission service (hence their claims that the service is constantly updated and current). Investigation of pre and post use network services and resident code shows nothing suspect happening on our internal network. Our multi-layered anti-virus, anti-spyware, and anti-adware systems detected nothing they were unhappy with.
For the price, we cannot recommend this useful little application highly enough.
