FleeceBay UK’s Q2-09 FVF Promo – the maths done for you

For some time now, eBay sites around the world have been offering fee promotions, and up until around the time that John Donahoe first joined the company, those promotions offered genuine discounts for sellers.
However, over the last few years, the nature of those promotions have increasingly become disingenuous attempts to fleece additional fees from sellers.  [...]

eBay UK have announced off their site that this summer will feature two rounds of major changes immediately after major seasonal marketing campaigns begin for sellers.

Will AdCommerce lead to final eBay meltdown?

eBay UK announced Thursday, on their general Announcements Board, that the AdCommerce service is now live for the site.
Confusingly, the announcement points to a UK registered domain (www.adcommerce.co.uk), which then redirects to the US eBay Partner Network site, and a generic landing page for the USA AdCommerce service.
I make no secret that I am against [...]

eBay GB survey due – wolf to fleece sheepish sellers?

eBay UK are caught between a rock and a hard place.  On one hand they are frequently accused of failing to listen to sellers.  Yet when they do reach out for opinions, the opinions they receive are perceived as not listened to, or are wildly off-topic despite being relevant to other areas of the site’s [...]

In a main Announcement Board (AB) post yesterday, the justification [...]

No you can’t, yes you can, no you can’t = UK Pantomine

Even before the start date for adding a free subtitle as part of eBay UK’s pre-Christmas promotions, seller’s were asking if they would be able to edit it out after the promotion period, without the edit counting in the amended listing rules that strip the listing of accumulated prior sales benefits for improved visibility under [...]

UK ends the year with “nastily” worded message

eBay UK, never the politest or most diplomatic in their messaging to sellers since Richard Ambrose took over top spot in Trust & Safety, have ended the year with a message where changing one word could have made all the difference.
In a 30 December 2008 announcement, “The eBay Team” have stated (bold is mine) -

eBay UK’s PayPal forum lit up over the weekend with complaints of several natures ranging from buyer’s inability to pay for wins on eBay UK, through to retried failure screens then taking multiple deductions from bank accounts and funding cards, but showing a single transaction on PayPal.
Then last night, for over two hours, PayPal was [...]

Ghost of Christmas-yet-to-come visits eBay UK HQ (VAT)

Blogs and forums have been raging concerning the UK Chancellor’s very short notice changes to the rate of Value Added Tax (VAT) effective from Monday as an economic stimulus package.
Less concerned with the overall effect on businesses and consumers, the rage has been directed at eBay and a lack of tools and other assistance needed [...]
