vzaar launches generous affiliate program

Affiliate Marketing is an Internet-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate’s marketing efforts.
For some months vzaar have been running a trial affiliate program with a handful of publishers and based on the feedback to date they have announced the launch of their official program. Publishers can sign up for this as of today.
Can I be an Affiliate?
If you have a website, blog or publish content to the internet then yes you can! Perhaps you want to review the vzaar service for your readers? If you trade on eBay perhaps you want to highlight how you can add video to your eBay listings, or the Twitterers amongst us might want to drop us into some of the video and tech conversations.
How do I get paid?
With the vzaar affiliate program you can place a variety of banners, advertisements, or simple text links, that when clicked will track the subsequent behaviour of the visitor. If that visitor goes on to sign up to vzaar and become a registered or paying user, then vzaar will pay you the equivalent fee for the first month of their tenure on vzaar. So for example, if that user signs up in the month for a Silver package then vzaar will pay you $25 for that new customer.
So what do I do?
- Log in to their Affiliate Centre with your normal vzaar username. If you don’t have one you can sign up for free here
- Review the Terms & Condition and submit your PayPal address so that we can pay you!
- Pick the marketing banners you want to utilise on your site – we run a number of different sizes and logos for your choice.
It’s that easy. vzaar then pays out at the end of every month for each paying customer you generate via your affiliate links. Commission is based on which vzaar account a user signs up for -
- Free $3
- Bronze $10
- Silver $25
- Gold $50
- Platinum $150
- Titanium $300
Initial Impressions
The registration process is very easy (no messing around waiting for confirmation emails, and no requirement to complete US Tax declarations and registrations – hoorah!). The page from which affiliates draw banners is a dream to use and I wish many other programs would follow vzaar’s example. Specifically, when grabbing the code to implant in our adserver, it appears below the banner allowing me to set a meaningful description of the banner in the ad server – so many of the big agencies and popular direct-advertisers forget the need for this, and collecting code from their sites becomes a real memory-pain after the first dozen or so banners copied across.
The only slight flaws I saw in the advertising inventory choice came from two directions.
First is the glaringly obvious lack of “bloggers favourites” advert sizes. WordPress users will be acutely aware that the WordPress ad-plugins most common size is for 125×125 ad banners, the next most common being 100×100 (for header and footer use) and 250×250 (for sidebar use). vzaar has no square banners, therefore there are none to resize – I’m sure the guys at vzaar will correct this quite promptly.
Another useful size for websites that is currently missing is the IAD standard 120×234 mini-tower ad – I see it on a lot of sites from other advertisers, and always in prominent locations on the webpage – another one guys, even though we don’t use that size here on BuildaSkill, I’m sure many of your other affiliates do so..
Secondly, although personally I like the styling of the single campaign set on offer so far, and the fact the colours have been balanced to fit with pretty much any site or blog graphics-schema, there’s going to be some who want colour, colour, colour – video is about colour, right?
I did also wonder if there were any demo videos that affiliates could embed as sales tools, but didn’t spot any that were obviously positioned for affiliate marketing. Tut tut boys – you’ve got the perfect product to use to sell itself.
In the future, I’d like to see vzaar teaming up with eBay sellers and the eBay Partner Network to allow bloggers to embed videos of sellers’ products with ePN links as well as vzaar affiliate links – a double bite of the cherry – I’m sure it would be just a case of structuring the player to have different click-zones in it, that then either directed to the listing on eBay, or to the vzaar sign-up page, dragging the appropriate affiliate code along with it – maybe with shared earnings on the ePN part?. Perhaps a purpose-built plugin for WordPress guys?
Once they’ve got that sorted for eBay, it would be easier to replicate it out to sites such as Amazon, Bonanzle, CQout et al, which have in-house affiliate programs too. The prospects for such a “double-bite” tool for affiliate marketers would be enormous.
I’ve now got vzaar all set up in the BuildaSkill adserver, and you should start to see their promotions appearing here (and my other sites) from here on in. Click them links and join up – I need the commissions to keep BuildaSkill online (hosting renewal is due in December and I’m skint).
