eBay – the acronyms are a-changing
By Garry HJ | July 5th, 2009 | Category: Week's End | No Comments »I’ve been doing a lot of offline work these last few weeks, which is why I haven’t been posting much, and in the course of that I’ve bumped into a lot of people with whom I’ve discussed the state of ecommerce for small businesses. One of the topics that keeps recurring is “what the hell are eBay playing at?”
What I’ve also noticed is that where as previously “eBay” was simply a name and a verb, it has now been elevated, in some circles, to a curse and expletive that ranks alongside that most ancient of Anglo-Saxon words that originally meant to “plough a field” – the infamous 4-letter “F” word.
Interestingly, another new phenomenon is emerging, creative acronyms from the name. Here are just a few, in no particular order, that I’ve picked up in the last few weeks – some from offline conversations, others from online reading.
- Early Bankruptcy Approaching You
- Experienced Buyer Anger Yet?
- Errors Bidding All Yesterday
- Easy Bucks Are Yesteryear
- Endless Boredom And Yawns
- Easier Buying Amazon, Yes?
- eBay Buyers Are Yobbos
- Economic Bullies And Youths
- Executing Businesses All Year
Have you heard or read any others?
