eBay MY & SG extend full buyer protection for UK & US buys

eBay Malaysia and eBay Singapore have announced to their buyers that those are now fully covered for purchases on eBay.co.uk and eBay.com

The announcement follows on from an initial extension of buyer protections announced in September, and the current announcement cautions -

Coverage and amounts of the PayPal Buyer Protection Programme are based on the eBay site where you purchase your item and may vary by site. Please check the item listing for eligibility. Also, coverage applies to the full value of the purchase (including postage) for most items purchased on eBay.com and eBay.co.uk. Items listed within certain categories are not eligible for PayPal Buyer Protection. Not all eBay sites have PayPal Buyer Protection coverage.

It’ll take a while to have visibility if this affects levels of buying from UK & US sellers, by buyers in SE Asia.  And obviously, the take up of such protection to facilitate the infamous PayPal SNAD and INR scams will show a frequency change long before the buying habit changes are evidenced.  If “high-salaried” western buyers are unwilling to post returns back to Asia, how much less willing will UN-poverty-line Asian buyers be willing to do so?
