Small sellers get a 2-day freebie on eBay GB
By | November 26th, 2008 | Category: eBay UK | No Comments »eBay UK have announced a two day Free Listing Weekend for Private sellers this weekend 29-30 November.
In the usual lengthy British Terms and Conditions, Business Sellers and PowerSellers are specifically called out as not being eligible to gain free listing from the promotion, which will go down like a lead balloon at this time of year.
Other than those restrictions, it would appear all private sellers worldwide are eligible (hoorah #1) – maybe they’ve been reading the BuildaSkill Blog and taking notes?.
The offer is for Auction-only and Auction+BIN single item listings (no Dutch Auctions) with a starting price under £1.00 (i.e. 99p or less). There is no requirement to offer “free” P&P (hoorah #2), though all the usual category suspects are excluded.
If you meet all of the above, then insertion is free – including if you use two categories per listing (hoorah #3) and of course Gallery is now free on the UK site (hoorah #4), but if you list in Auction+BIN format you’ll still pay the extra for adding BIN, and of course you’ll have to pay FVF’s if you can find a buyer … or if a buyer can find your listings in the first place … yet, nil desperandum, Auctions still finish in default “time ending soonest” so all of them get a chance to be on the first page of browse results, and also of search results (hoorah #5) if Best Match’s Relevance doesn’t screw up.
I’m afraid that’s just too many hoorah’s for the UK in one post – I’m off to the hammock as I need to lie down after that.
