France rolls Sorting by Relevance for Buy Now Items
By Ed | October 7th, 2008 | Category: eBay FR | No Comments »France has released a mini-announcement stating they are rolling increased visibility based on previous sales, for Buy Now listings.
Whilst they refer to it as “Sorting by Relevance”, it is essentially better visibility if items have previously sold from the same listing. Weighting is given to the number of items bought from a core Buy Now listing in the previous 7 days, and the weighting remains relevant and applicable if the same listing is relisted within 7 days of finishing.
Their announcement states that particulars such as pricing, auction title, and “respect of good sales practices” (I assume this means DSRs and Policy compliance) will be counted, but to a lesser measure than the previous sales criteria. There will also be differentiation of visibility between otherwise identical listings, where one listing has sold more than the other.
Remember too that this month, France are reorganising the categories for Toys & Games, and Photography & Video. This could muck up your relisting strategy if you sell in those categories, potentially losing you the visibility benefit from prior sales if you have to edit the categories for your listings.
